About Us

Ebenezer United Methodist Church has been in the Chase-Middle River community since 1790 – “a light at the top of the hill.” We are located on 17 wooded acres at the intersection of Ebenezer and Earls Roads, 2.5 miles from U.S. Route 40 and 4 miles from White Marsh Shopping Mall.

Even as our church has grown from the small wooden Bird River Chapel across the road, to our current complex of buildings for worship, education, and programs, our family of faith has maintained the warmth of a community church.

We provide opportunities for worshippers to participate in services through spoken prayer requests, reading scriptures, singing in the choir, greeting and ushering, serving communion, and playing music.  Our buildings are air-conditioned, and we have ample parking.

We are a part of the Bowley’s/Chase United Methodist Parish,
along with Sharp Street and Piney Grove United Methodist Churches.
We are three churches, in two locations, with three worship services each Sunday:

8:30 a.m. Casual, contemporary at Ebenezer campus -
communion every Sunday

9:45 a.m. Traditional at Ebenezer/Sharp Street

Sunday School – 11:30 AM Sharp Street/Ebenezer -
elementary through adult

11:15 a.m. Piney Grove, 201 Bowley’s Quarters Road, Middle River”

The people of the Bowley’s/Chase United Methodist Parish

MEMBERSHIP in the Bowley’s/Chase United Methodist Parish is open to all persons who sincerely desire to lead a Christian life, to grow with us as we learn more about God’s purposes for our lives, and to serve Jesus Christ in the world.

We receive members by profession or reaffirmation of faith, and by transfer from other churches.  Classes for youth and adults about Christian beliefs and Methodist belief and practice are led by the pastor several times a year.

Children and babies are received as preparatory members when they are baptized.  We recognize the baptism of other Christian churches, and we baptize those who have never been baptized by sprinkling, pouring or full immersion.  For information on baptism, please telephone the church at 410 335-2172 or e-mail Pastor Cindy Burkert
